MICRO CONTROLLERS

A Brief History...

We can find modern day micro controllers all around us in things such as digital cameras, dishwashers microwaves, mobile phones and fridges.

The source of these products is for them to be open for use by all parties freely - via free licence

This includes Software, Hardware and Design.

ARDUINO

Arduino boards are used to make circuits, these are popularly used for projects encompassing light and sound.

Electricity comes from pins that are inserted into the board with the source of electricity passing through from USB or battery.

We had a go at completing our own circuits using the Arduino kits

We were eventually able to get the LED bulb to light after successfully completing the circuit.

The circuit may be used as a midi controller when connected to an mp3 device.

It may be used to create a touch sensitive light switch when using a relay shield.

PROJECT

It was now time to create a circuit of our own...

In class stitching the LED bulb into felt material so that it may still connect when added to a circuit.

Example

Me and Tom presenting our initial ideas.

We were shown by Conor how to splice two wires together using heating tools.

We decided to create a straight forward project as we both found wiring and coding rather difficult even with the simpler tasks. I found light projects pretty interesting upon researching them, I felt like a lamp or a children's light was something achievable.

Using an example of wiring for a the light project this is what we created.

This prototype is the basis that we could go fourth and make into a children's light bulb or light game in the next stage.

The final Code

The final code that we used for our light device in Arduino looked like this...
