Web Design

Web Media

The aim at the end of Web Media is to develop an experimental website based upon our study of net.art over a three week period.

Understanding the web as media

Six media Characteristics of the web (strengths)

*many to many networking
*multimedia
*database
*automation
*live and or time shifted
*location independent

Credible Artists of early net.art

Early artists of net.art include the likes of Mark Amerika, Vuc Cosic, Olia Lialina, Heath Bunting, Jodi and Luther Blissett. They are responsible for http://www.easylife.org/netart/

Jodi is a collective of two internet artists: Joan Heemskerk and Dirk Paesmans.
There most well known art-piece is their website http://wwwwwwwww.jodi.org which is a site made using basic HTML, it is a landscape of intricate designs...

-It is browser based internet artwork created in 1996 by Olia Lialina from the period of net.art

This is the information i deciefered using the web-page...

'Not now after the holidays, the weather will be better then'

'Together forever'

'You don't trust me, i see'

'But it was only once last summer...
And if you think...
Why i should explain?...
Don't you see?'

'He was my neighbour, forgive me'

'No never'
 'Don't kill him' them

'What could you do?'
'Where it was?'

'please look at me'

'My mother told me that you could change'
'Haven't you seen tigers there'

(white box)
They never saw the snow... the want to come back

'It's so old stupid story'

'i keep your photo here'

Olia Lialina 1996 MBCBFTW museum

She is using frames to present her art, the first page starts with that of 2 images across the page of what appears to be two men on the left and a window towards the top right of the screen. The third and fourth images that appear are the face of a boy and an image of a helicopter with people underneath it. later on a blurry picture of what may be fire above water and next to it a picture of a man is showed.

HTML

Hyper, text, mark-up, language

1989 Tim Berners-Lee invented WWW
1991 Tim Berners-Lee invented HTML
1993 Dave Raggett drafted HTML+

Programs such as 'Codeacademy.com' and 'w3schools.com'

All the text, images and content are stored in the body part of the HTML.
But CSS and styles are stored in the head.
Everything must have an opening and a closing tag.

<img src = ".....jpg" alt=......">   for images

The purpose of a web browser is to read HTML and display content.

What is CSS

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets
CSS describes how HTML elements are to be displayed on screen, paper, or in other media.
It can control the layout of multiple web pages all at once. It controls shape, position and colour of HTML elements.

The selector points to the HTML element you want to style.

There's 3 ways to insert CSS

External style sheet
Internal style sheet (hotglue)
Inline Style sheet

HTML PAGE STRUCTURE

HOTGLUE.ME

We used the site Hotglue.me in order to practice and get used to using HTML code.
My domain - morgannoel.hotglue.me

Using what I learned I was able to insert text and write a little about myself.
I aslo was able to add a coloured highlight to my 'welcome to my page' title.

I learned how to also hyperlink the image that I inserted with a link towards another site: w3schools.
I was also able to insert a video within my first page which is shown below (Kendrick Lamar's King's Dead - Black Panther).

Website Task

Using what I learnt through these past few sessions I developed with a classmate a site based upon split possibilities on route to completing a game.

https://morgannoel.hotglue.me/?Project+-+Mingxi+and+Morgan

The game is peppered with links misleading and confusing players show to get through and complete the game which takes the form of a maze as players try to figure out a strategy to reach the last page.

Misleading pages...
